Barton Community College welcomed students back to campus last weekend. On the first day of check-in, three returning students joined Brian and I to welcome students and to invite them to the lasagna dinner we hosted that night. We collected spiritual interest surveys from waiting students and gave out our keychain flashlights as we invited them to our first meeting on Thursday.

At the dinner, the First United Methodist Church, CrossPoint Great Bend, and First Southern Baptist Church helped us provide and serve lasagna for over 70 students.
On Sunday, Brian shared briefly about Campus Christian Fellowship at the mandatory housing meeting.

We are looking forward to our first meeting of the year on Thursday, August 21 – more on that later!

What You Believe and Why – Introduction

On Thursday night, we began the semester by reading about Paul. When Paul aka Saul chose to believe and follow Jesus as the Messiah, he took time to study the Law (Old Testament) all over again, now knowing the Christ who was being foretold. When we come to know Christ, it is wise for us to study the Bible too. The Bible can help us solidify and clarify our beliefs.
Other things we learned:
  • When one key belief changes, it calls for a re-evaluation of other beliefs.
  • Brandon likes to stir up controversy.
  • Christmas break is a long time to be away from your friends!
This week we kicked off our spring series, “What You Believe and Why.”
Students, please join us for the next Bible study on Thursday, January 23.

(3) Student Activities is hosting a Meet-and-Greet on Thursday, August 15, and the whole CCF staff will be there to hand out free popcorn and snow cones. Current students: We do not want to take away from you meeting new people at that event but any help that you could give in making snow cones or dishing out the popcorn would be great. Original post

Due to tonight’s weather forecast, the college rescheduled the outdoor portion of the Meet-and-Greet for tonight, August 15. We will be in the student union tonight handing out popcorn and snow cones starting at 7:00 p.m. Current students: Stop by to help out if you can!

The school year is about to begin (move-in is NEXT week) and we are set for a relaunch of ministry once again.

There will be some staff changes this year…

Clay is still the campus pastor at CrossPoint and will be returning to help with worship.

Pennie still works at the vision center and doing children’s ministry at CrossPoint and she will be returning to CCF staff this year.

After much prayer, Carol is “retiring” from college ministry to follow God’s leading in a different ministry and family life direction. We are very sad to see her leave (she has been a part of CCF for 15 years) but we know that this is where God is moving and we support her wholeheartedly.

As some of you are aware, Brian got married this summer. He and Abby were exploring if there was another place that God wanted to move them. It became clear that He wanted them right here at Barton so Brian is back and Abby will be joining the staff.

This upcoming year of ministry will definitely have a new look and feel and we are very excited to see what God has in store.
